Flatwork

Sidewalks, pads, landings and slabs — the unglamorous work everything else sits on. Screeded flat, floated smooth, edged and jointed. It is also the first place a sloppy crew shows itself.

What’s involved

  • Screed to a string line, not by eye
  • Float and trowel as the surface takes its set
  • Tool the edges so they do not chip
  • Joint at a spacing that suits the slab's size
